Sharing Accommodation

Some delegates may wish to try to find someone to share accommodation with when they come to Birmingham for the conference.

To that end we have created an email list.

The purpose of this list is to enable you to make contact with other people who are attending the conference and have expressed interest in the possibility of sharing a room during their stay.

If you would like to join the list please email burrealz@adf.bham.ac.uk with 'Join Conference Accommodation Sharers' in the subject line.

Our Project Administrator, Anna, will then distribute your email address to everyone else who has requested to join the list, along with any information that you have sent, for example the dates of your stay in Birmingham, or the price range you are looking within.

Anna works part-time so details of new joiners will probably only be forwarded to other members of the list once a week.

We do not have any control over emails that are posted to this list, or over who joins the list.

Please use the list with care, any arrangements that you make to share accommodation are between yourself and the person who you have agreed to share with. The Beyond the Book Project and the University of Birmingham cannot accept responsibility for any such arrangements, or for any emails that are circulated between members of the list.

We hope that you all have success in finding someone to share with.

Childcare facilities:

Whilst the University is planning to offer a childcare service for conference delegates in the near future, this will not be in place by September. The best way to find out about childcare facilities during your stay in Birmingham is through the Childcare Information Bureau, which is a UK Government childcare information service:

Telephone: +44 (0)121 303 3521

Web address: http://www.childcarelink.gov.uk

Follow the link to 'Childcare Search', for facilities close to campus choose: WEST Birmingham. The areas that our campus is nearest to are: Edgbaston and Quinton & Harborne. Or choose SOUTH WEST Birmingham. The area nearest to our campus is Selly Oak.

Please see the 'Travel' section for information on how to get to campus from town.
